Author
Angelique’s publications focus on making the invisible visible and finding meaning and joy during life’s meantime experiences. As a Professor of Political Science, African and African American Studies, and Law at Seattle University, her academic research and publications center on critical issues such as racial gaslighting, dehumanization, reparations, official apologies, and the socio-legal construction of race.
She is in the process of writing Racial Gaslighting: A Self-Help Guide with Rose Ernst Ph.D, which examines this process of racial gaslighting and provides tools to recognize and respond to this manifestation of racism. Defined as “the political, social, economic and cultural process that perpetuates and normalizes a white supremacist reality through pathologizing those who resist” (Davis & Ernst, 2017), racial gaslighting makes invisible racism visible. This book will give the reader the ability to name this tactic of white supremacy and the tools to respond to it and protect their joy.
